Mission Statement
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Green county, Inc. is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Description
Community Based Mentoring matches adults with children in Green county with the expectation that they will meet consistently (weekly or bi-weekly) to create a long term mentoring relationship. School Based Mentoring is different from community based mentoring because this program takes place in a supervised setting at the school and focuses on academic need as well as social need. Elementary school children in grades 1 through 5 are matched to high school students as their mentors. The Lunch Buddy program matches adults willing to meet with a student over their lunch period at their school. They enjoy eating lunch together and sharing some time talking or doing other activities during recess.
