Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
OAR promotes non-lethal control for feral cat colonies and humane methods to reduce the population of feral cats. It is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, namely:
- To trap, test, vaccinate, neuter, and return healthy cats to their colonies; and to assist colony caretakers in feeding and monitoring their colonies.
- To rehabilitate cats and kittens from such colonies that can be socialized for placement in well-screened homes. This entails hands-on work for socialization, as well as the provision of daily care, food, and cleaning. Extensive veterinary care is also provided.
- To educate the public on the importance of neutering all animals and the care of feral cats through the organization Web site and newsletters, newspaper articles, and sponsorship of local feral cat seminars.
- To educate the organization volunteers on proper procedures for cat care and socialization through handbooks, orientation sessions, and constant feedback and verbal sharing.
We also run a low-cost high-quality spay/neuter clinic for cats, currently operating M-F, by appointment only.
The Ohio Alleycat Resource is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-run organization. We promote non-lethal control for feral cat colonies and humane methods to reduce the population of feral cats. In addition, we work to socialize those cats and kittens and place them in well-screened homes.
