Mission Statement
The Muscular Dystrophy Association fights neuromuscular diseases through an unparalled worldwide research effort, a nation wide program of medical services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. Individual MDA research grants to investigators in the United States and abroad number some 400. Through MDA's services program, comprehensive medical services are furnished to children and adults with neuromuscular diseases at some 230 MDA hospital-affiliated clinics and through the Association's chapters.
Description
Since 1950, the Muscular Dystrophy Association has provided Southern Arizona with the most comprehensive services program of any voluntary health agency in the country. From its Tucson district office, MDA serves Pima, Graham, Greenlee, Santa Cruz, Pinal, Cochise and Yuma counties. Adults and children affected by neuromuscular diseases, and their families, benefit from an array of services, research and other programs.
