Mission Statement

Hospice Austin is a non-profit organization providing comprehensive hospice and palliative care to patients and families in Central Texas who are facing terminal illness. Our purpose is to relieve physical, emotional and spiritual pain so that life can be experienced as fully and hopefully as possible. We provide emotional and spiritual support for hospice families and others in our community as they heal during bereavement.

Description

Most care is provided in the home, which can be a nursing home. Nurses and certified nurse aides help with medical and personal care. Licensed counselors help patients and families through the emotional turmoil of this time, coordinate other community services and assist with financial concerns. Chaplains provide a listening ear for patients and families and are available to help in the exploration of spiritual issues. Trained volunteers are available to help families with added support. Other specialists, like massage therapists, are also available.
