The Illinois Jacquet Foundation was formed as a not-for-profit corporation to preserve the extra-ordinary legacy of Illinois Jacquet and to promote the study and appreciation of Jazz Music. Its primary focus will be on the education of young students, in honor of Mr. Jacquet's desire to impart his knowledge and experience to young musicians and to guide them on a path toward excellence.

Description

Dr. Pam Jacquet and the Illinois Jacquet Foundation cordially invite you to a gala event to be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011, from 6 pm until 10 pm at the beautiful Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) located at 4725 E. Mayo Blvd., Phoenix, Arizona.

The forth coming gala event will benefit the Illinois Jacquet Foundation and the Ear Candy Charity. This exciting evening will consist of a silent auction, entertainment, food, and drink.

Entertainment at the event will include our locals Ms Sherry Petta, Ms Margo Reed, Mr. Dennis Rowland, Savoy Hop Cat Dancers and with a special performance by ASU Jazz standout student Mr. Jeremy Lappitt, also included in the evening events is a MIM private section tour for our guests.

Studio Vino a local winery will be hosting a special signature wine that has been created especially for this event and will be served during the cocktail hour. A flowing menu will consist of Cajun and Creole delights.

On the program for this event is a special dedication ceremony that will include the daughter of Illinois Jacquet presenting MIM with one of her father’s famous saxophones and other special items that exemplify the jazz musician’s private collection.

The funds raised from this event will benefit the Illinois Jacquet Foundation and the Ear Candy Charity, for the musical interest of today’s youth. Music is our universal language and children deserve the opportunity to be exposed to its powerful influence.
