Mission Statement

To transform distressed neighborhoods into healthy communities by placing AmeriCorps members with neighborhood-based Community Development Corporations (CDCs). Through training members and offering the opportunity to serve in communities, we will expand the pool of neighborhood leaders, with the skills and drive to effect long term change.

Description

LISC AmeriCorps members serve with CDCs on the front lines of community development. Members develop low-income and affordable housing, counsel first-time homeowners, coordinate after-school and summer youth programs, form or strengthen resident associations and organize neighborhood beautification programs in CA; FL; IL; MA; MI; NJ; NY; or RI.
