Orting Food Bank

Description

The Orting Food Bank serves a small rural community of just over 6500 residentce. In 2010, we distributed over 160,000 pounds of food to the needy in our community!

We are totally run by volunteers, all the way from the packers and sorters, food distributers, drivers to our entire Board of Directors. We work with all the local groups and surrounding are food banks to utilize our resources to the best of our ability! 100% of every dollar goes to help feed the hungry!

We are open Wednesdays from 9am-12pm for food distribution June 1-September 30, and then Wednesday's from 12-3 starting October 1st and going thru May 31. Our hours may be changing as we have recently been awarded a grant to purchase a new building! Our goal is to be in our new location by the end of summer 2011. We also have volunteers doing work Monday - Saturday at different times of the day.

We will be serving approximately 6000 lunches this summer in our Summer Lunch Program - feeding kids who would normally go hungry during the summer because the 1 meal they counted on at school is gone. We have a lot of needs, and need alot of help to make it work!
