Mission Statement

Camp Sunshine & Camp Snowflake, Inc. runs year-round recreational programs for children and young adults with multiple disabilities. With its one-to-one care for its campers, Camp Sunshine & Camp Snowflake is committed to providing Northern New Jersey's most engaging, most diverse programs available to children and young adults with multiple disabilities.

Description

Camp Sunshine, founded in 1960, is a summer recreational program for children and young adults with multiple disabilities. The Camp operates for 9 weeks each summer (Mon. thru Fri., 9:00 A.M.-3:30 P.M.) beginning the last Monday in June and running through August. Camp Sunshine is unique among its peers because of its corps of volunteers who provide one-on-one care to its campers. Each volunteer has the opportunity to assist one camper in various camp activities throughout the day, including swimming, adapted games, and field trips to places such as Six Flags Great Adventure. Camp Snowflake was opened in 1970 to provide a needed social outlet for its campers during the sometimes long and difficult academic year. Camp Snowflake meets once per week, on Saturday afternoons from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., from September through June, except for holidays. Activities include arts & crafts activities, adapted games, and monthly field trips to places such as the Bronx Zoo and Liberty Science Center. Camp Snowflake also provides one-to-one care for its campers with its corps of dedicated volunteers.
