Family Reentry Youth Programs provide cousnedling, case management and youth mentoring to vulnerable children and youth impacted by parental incaceration, family violence and crime. Services are committed to enhancing the resiliency of children through caring relationships and supportive family services.
Family Reentry has two distinct youth mentor programs which have a goal of providing supportive services to vulnerable youth through a one-to-one mentor match. Volunteer adults are screened, trained and matched to youth based on commonalities and interests. Match support is provided to mentors by program staff throughout the duraction of the match.
Champions provides support to children of prisoners and operates as a school based program where mentors meet with a child at their school for consistent, weekly visits.
J-Connect offers support to youth involved with the juvenile justice system and who are in need of a strong positive role model. Community visits are scheduled weekly afterschool or on weekends, with a goal of spending 2 or more hours each week.
Youth Mentoring is a valuable tool in supporting children and teens who have been identified as at risk. Building a trusting and supportive relationship through mentoring has been linked to positive youth outcomes.
