Mission Statement

Because of civil war in Somalia, the Somali refugees and the Somali Community in Atlanta are growing. Their need to settle, establish, and adjust live in USA are also becoming a challenge to them. Also the needs for an umbrella of Somali Community center that can translate these challenges were growing. After several meeting, gathering, consultations and discussions, the Somali community at large decided to create a non profit Community Center.

In considering all the facts, the reality of the broad social needs of the community, and the enormous challenges facing the community in which can not be ignored, Somali American community center is established on March 21, 2009 by a group of interested Somali-USA citizens including elders, businessmen, religious leaders, and intellectuals of the Somali Community in Atlanta, to advance, promote, and solve those challenges. The mission is to seek and provide service to the community integrate to American society and adjust life in America through distinct programs and projects. Some of these programs include but not limited to advocacy, and education. These interested founders became the Board of directors of Somali American Community Center. They are vibrant, dynamic and effective, made up of engage members of diverse backgrounds and skills. The board members are committed of serving their community. The center has the support of the community at large; it also serves as unifying role and a distinguish leadership for the community
