Mission Statement

The mission of the National Black Railroader's Historical Society is to acknowledge, collect, preserve and share the contributions, experiences, memorabilia and ephemera related to blacks in the railway industry and to ensure inclusion of their story in the proper perspective of mainstream American/World history.

Description

We are co-located at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum, 12450 SW 152nd Street, Miami, FL where we maintain an exhibition titled "Railroads in the Black American Experience, curated by artist and collector Alan Laird. We are currently cataloging memorabilia and collecting oral histories of black railway workers both pre-civil rights and those who benefitted from the legacy of the Pullman Porters.
