The Lupus Foundation of America, New Jersey Chapter, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization centrally located in Springfield, New Jersey. The foundation's mission is dedicated solely to improving the diagnosis and treatment of lupus, supporting individuals and families affected by the disease, increasing awareness among health professionals and the public, and finding a cure. Its primary mission is responding to the needs of people affected by by lupus. We provide hope, education, suport services, awareness and funding for research.
The Foundation is located in Springfield, New Jersey. We have seven sharing and caring support groups in six counties, and a teen support group which meets at our office. We participate in health fares, and participate in educational seminars for health professionals and the public. Four times a year we send our newsletter to our members, flyers listing our upcoming events, flyers that contain information on lupus such as the latest research, treatments etc. We conduct a Walk in October, a Beefsteak in April, a Dinner Dance in February, Fun day at Monmouth Park in July and an evening at the Somerset Patriots baseball park in July. We respond to persons newly diagnosed, send them literature, and supply them with a list of doctors in their area that they can choose from to help treat their symptoms of lupus. We also assist individuals or organizations that want to run fundraisers on behalf of lupus.
