World Experience (WE) volunteers strive to strengthen international links of friendship, support, and understanding among students, familes, and communities through a personally guided program of sharing.
World Experience (WE) is a volunteer network of people around the world that offers high school-age students a school attendance and family living experience in the US and 30 other countries for a short term period, a semester, and an academic year. WE believes that the sensitive awareness of cultural differences, developed when students and families live together, results in mutual respect for each other's culture. WE exchangees participae in a guided homestay/study experience designed to enhance understanding for both the volunteer family and the student. Host families have a choice of students, and orientation is provided before and after student arrival. On-going orientation and counseling by a trained volunteer coordinator offer opportunities for each student to realize the full potential of the experience in the school, family and community. Coordinators arrange activities for students to reach out into the community and surrounding areas. WE offers financial aid to needy students in addition to scholarship opportunities for students traveling to Latin America on the Ron Crookshank Scholarship Award. Reduced fees are granted to children of volunteer coordinators and host families. Coordinators have perks for training, travel, supplies, gift certificates, etc.
