United Way of Steele County

United Way of Steele County is a community-based philanthropy that provides funding to local nonprofit organizations. United Way's Strategic Funding areas are Children and Youth; Families; Seniors; Health and Disability; and Basic Needs Crisis Services.

United Way also has a number of special initiatives that it provides technical assitance and support. 2010 Special Initiaitves:

• United Way collaborated with the Local Chamber of Commerce, the Faith Community and financial partners to provide grants to individuals and small businesses to replace damages not covered by insurance or government dunsing sources.
• United Way organized community members andsecured a 5-year, $625,000 grant to support the Steele County Safe and Drug Free Coalition. The Coalition is a multisector community group that used evidence-based strategies to prevent underage drug, alcohol and tobacco use. United Way currently administers the grant.
