Mission Statement

The mission of Island Heritage Trust is to conserve significant open space, scenic areas, wildlife habitats, natural resources, historic and cultural features that offer public benefit and are essential to the character of the Deer Isle area.

Description

Island Heritage Trust is a private, non-profit land trust dedicated to conservation, environmental education, and encouraging people to get outdoors and enjoy nature. We offer free Walks & Talks events in the summertime, Bird Walks once a month, assistance for families interested in conserving their land, and we own 8 Islands and 10 preserves open to for public use, along with managing 3 other preserves (two with The Nature Conservancy and one with the Maine Dept. of Conservation).
