The Low Income Housing Fund (LIHF) is a nonprofit, national Community Development Financial Institution that invests capital and provides technical assistance to spur economic advancement for the very poor. LIHF's work focuses on affordable housing, child care, workforce development and education. LIHF aims to foster healthy communities by providing a bridge between private capital markets and low income neighborhoods and by encouraging comprehensive strategies that address the diverse needs of people and communities.

Description

Over its 18 year history, the Low Income Housing Fund (LIHF) has provided $300 million in financing for projects that serve low income communities. LIHF's work has helped to create 38,000 units of affordable housing, 6,000 affordable child care slots and 760 charter school spaces. LIHF has offices in Oakland (headquarters), Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. LIHF operates with a total nationwide staff of 36 people, mainly concentrated in the areas of lending, finance, program and development.
