Mission Statement

If you are an adult 21 years or older who would like to share the fun of reading with a child, become a Los Angeles Public Library GAB Reader! When children read books one-on-one with a GAB volunteer, they improve their reading skills, enrich their imagination and develop a life-long love of reading. Become a GAB reader and MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A CHILD'S LIFE!

Description

  • Be 21 years or older and able to read in English (bi-lingual volunteers are welcome).
  • Can make a commitment to volunteer two or more hours a week in the library for at least six months.
  • Attend two fun 3-hour workshops to learn engaging read-aloud techniques on sharing books with children.
  • Submit to a background check and fingerprinting provided by the library.
