Mission Statement

In striving for public service excellence, the Madison County Public Library is a welcoming community center whose staff, resources, programs and services provide for the needs of our diverse community.

Description

The Madison County Public Library believes that involving volunteers in its operation will assist in carrying out its vision, and therefore believes that:

Volunteers are goodwill ambassadors that help the community understand how the Library works and help the Library understand the community's needs and interests. Volunteers should be considered as part of the working team with the staff and bring diversity to the Library.

Volunteers who have gained experiences through their education and roles in the workforce can provide new skills and talents in the provision of services the Library has in place, and might bring imaginative proposals for new services that respond to local needs.

Volunteers receive valuable experience and learn new skills. Volunteering creates a sense of purpose and gives an opportunity for interaction with others.
