Mission Statement

To promote awareness, education, service, and research for those affected by lupus.

Description

Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system fails to serve its normal protective functions and instead forms antibodies that attack healthy tissues and organs.

Lupus affects more than 1.5 million Americans. African Americans, Hispanics/Latinas, Asians and Native Americans are disproportionately affected by lupus. 9 out of 10 lupus patients are women and 1 in 5 people are children.

The Lupus Foundation of Pennsylvania promotes awareness, education, service and research for those affected by lupus.

Because early lupus detection and treatment is the key to better health outcomes and can usually lessen the progression and severity of the disease, we are canvassing the state with lupus education and awareness. Until there is a cure for lupus, supporting and educating all Pennsylvanians is vital.

Your support helps make it possible for us to continue to provide much needed patient services and community awareness. Thank you!
