The mission of Seattle Pro Musica is to be a leader in the choral arts by performing inspirational and innovative concert programs at the highest artistic level, enriching our audience, and building audiences and singers of the future.
Description
Seattle Pro Musica, winner of the NEA's American Masterpieces Choral National Initiative, the Margaret Hillis Award, and an ASCAP/Chorus America Award for Adventurous Programming of Contemporary Music, is a critically acclaimed and award-winning choral ensemble performing under the direction of conductor/artistic director Karen P. Thomas.
In addition to repertoire ranging from Medieval chant through the works of living composers, Seattle Pro Musica also performs outreach concerts and educational workshops, including children's music programs in schools. Musical highlights include seven world premieres, numerous Seattle premieres, and performances of Brahms, Bach, Mozart, Poulenc, Haydn, Faure, and Handel among others. The music of American composers has also featured prominently in SPM's repertoire, with a special emphasis on the composers of the Northwest.
