Mission Statement

1)Provide a safe, permanent haven for cats with incurable or terminal illness, old age and personality problems. These cats are not animals that would be adoptable or sustained in a normal shelter setting.

2) As we have done for many years, we serve our community by helping rescue local stray and feral felines. When working with feral cats, the cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and provided they are healthy, re-released into feral colonies. There they are fed daily until they live out their natural life. This system of trapping and spaying feral cats has led to a major decrease in the stray and feral cat population of San Clemente and adjacent areas.

3) We seek to assist and provide non-financial support for the San Clemente/Dana Point Animal Shelter (CASA) and Pet Project Foundation by fostering or permanently housing cats that once again, are not suitable or even living at the local shellter facility. For many years now, we have stopped endless "unadoptable" cats from being euthanized. For instance, until recently, CASA euthanized FIV+ positive cats if healthy. Healing Hope Cat Sanctuary has many FIV+ cats since it is not a life threatening nor easily transmitted disesase.

4) Many of the felines here have complicated and chronic illness that cannot be treated with conventional veterinary medicine. Even though we do rely on this form of medicine, in many cases, holistic medicine is needed to improve the health of or even cure the medical ailment. In these cases, we rely on founder and president Kim Rockshaw's training, degree and experience with homeopathy, herbs, nutrition and supplements to help these animals . . . with great success!

Description

A small licensed feline sanctuary run from the home of founder and president, Kim Rockshaw. Because of space and work limitations, and also due to the individualized quality of care each cat gets, we limit our number to under 35 cats.

Animals are housed on the premises in either the home, or outside in a very large enclosed yard. Here we house many of the cats that are used to being outdoors. We have large hutches and other cubby holes designed for shelter as well as access to the garage.
