Mission Statement

The Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. was incorporated in 1963 under the name of the Thalian Hall Commission for the purposes of restoring and operating historic Thalian Hall as a regional center for the performing arts.

Description

Thalian Hall is an Historic 19th Century Theatre, designed by John Montague Trimble, and opened in 1858. From its original construction, which includes Wilmington's City Hall, through a series of renovations, Thalian Hall encompasses a Proscenium-style Main Stage, a Grand Ballroom/City Council Chambers and a Studio Theatre. THCPA, Inc. co-ordinates the calendar, maintains the facility, operates the box office and provides technical and marketing support for a wide range of performing arts organizations including Opera House Theatre Co. and the Thalian Association. In addition, the THCPA presents outstanding touring performances through its Main Attractions Series for adults and the Arts Ventures Series and Pied Piper Theatre for children. THCPA also features artistic films through it's Cinematique. The THCPA is a member of the League of Historic American Theatres, Association of Performing Arts Presenters, and the North Carolina Presenters Consortium.
