Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
HE METROPOLITAN TRIBE is a collaborative association of visual artists and creative individuals (e.g. writers, designers, craftspeople, media types, etc.). We bring creative entrepreneurs together in positive, non-competitive, collaborative ways that other groups do not. Our members share knowledge and resources, and in return, the collaborative environment they create gives them success and satisfaction more quickly and easily. The Metropolitan Tribe members are united not only by geography, but also by their talents, goals, and experiences. Tribes are not cults, or strange collectives! Our in-person and online activities are designed to help members connect to one another, share resources and information, find support, and get what they need to succeed. The active participation of our members, and the awesome sum of their collective wisdom and skills make each member more powerful and successful. In the words of the ancient, Klamath Indian tribe: " Ha-sat' waaY - naat cii-wapk - we help each other; we will live."
Membership is open to any artist or creative entrepreneur who is seriously in the process of bringing his or her work to the public consciouness. Membership, as are all our resources, are currently free of charge. The organization hosts a 15+ page web site at: http://www.metrotribe.org on which a global community of members (and guests) can connect to their creative colleagues around the block, or around the world. Members can promote themselves in our MEMBERS WEB SITES SHOWCASE. They can also access our Chat Room and more than two dozen forums on a wide variety of topics of interest to creative entreprenuers. There, they can make invaluable personal connections, showcase their work, find a job, sell something, get answers to business questions, and more. The highly accolaimed "Ask Alison" (Managing Your LIfe & Career) advice column is also run exclusively on this site. There are also links to hundreds of relevant resources both local, and global, news & events listings, and information about The Metropolitan Tribe for prospective volunteers, funders, media, and other interested parties. Currently, our IN-PERSON (New York/NJ Metro Area) activities are in the planning stages because we're just starting up. Our goal is to create our first in-person (NYC) events early Fall, 2002. We also are planning other educational, networking and mentoring events to help members make lasting connections and friendships. Future plans include unique business development "success teams," and members-only access to low-cost business services.
