Mission Graduates is a nonprofit organization that increases the number of K-12 students in San Francisco's Mission District who are prepared for and complete a college education. The students in our programs represent many different racial, cultural, linguistic and socioeconomic groups. Our programs celebrate the diversity of our students, their families, cultures and experiences. Demonstrating appreciation and respect for different cultures in our classrooms will increase our volunteers' ability to help students learn and achieve academically. We hope that everyone who works with us, will learn and benefit from this opportunity as they grow professionally and help us increase community awareness of issues facing students who live in the Mission.
Founded in 1972, Mission Graduates provides a wide range of K-12 after-school, in-school, and summer programs helping to establish college education as an expectation and goal for every child. Each year, Mission Graduates reaches over 3,400 low-income children, youth, and families from San Francisco’s Mission District, emphasizing college as a means to achieve economic equity and strengthen the fabric of our community.
