Our hospice volunteers have many reasons for giving their time. Some are looking for a fulfilling way to develop and grow personally and others have been helped by our agency and want to give back. Still others simply want to help improve the lives of members of their community. Whatever the reason, as a hospice volunteer, you will gain great personal satisfaction from knowing that you have made a difference in another person’s life. Hospice allows volunteers to choose their needs, and gives them the opportunity to use their training and talents to enrich the lives of our patients and their families in many different ways. You will receive specialized training and support under the direction of the Volunteer Manager. A convenient orientation is provided to all volunteers. Some of the few ways to help would be: Friendly visits, Writing letters, Reading to patients, and helping with end of life projects. Most volunteers give one hour per week, but you can give as much or as little as you can. We place you with a patient that is close to your home and works with your schedule. *Compassus Hospice follows CDC guidelines for COVID-19 response, and additional PPE training will be conducted with all new volunteers.

Volunteers in our office help with many daily duties that include things such as: filing, data entry, managing admission documents, helping with scheduling, helping with special events, etc. Our office volunteers work closely with our staff to better assist our clinical staff in bringing the gift of hospice to our patients. You will also learn the process of hospice from admission to death and all it entails. This takes place in our office during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM). Our volunteer coordinator will give any letters of recommendation, reference letters, etc. that may help with further employment or education. We have a very relaxed and welcoming environment in our office that any volunteer would feel comfortable working in. *Compassus Hospice follows CDC guidelines for COVID-19 response, and additional PPE training will be conducted with all new volunteers.
