Mission Statement

To act as a change agent to protect the rights of low to moderate income residents of the Sea Islands and coastal communities, and to empower them to develop educationally, culturally, economically and socially.

Description

SC Coastal CDC provides a business incubator with funished offices, telephone jacks, fax, copier, wireless internet and conference room for micro and small busineses just starting. We also have an affordable licensed commercial kitchen (St. Helena Food Center) for low to moderate income residents interested in establishing food related businesses. We offer assistance in the development of jobs, catering businesses and mobile unit food businesses. Other businesses prepare food items for resale to supermarkets and speciality food stores. The Food Center is also available to residents and organizations with a need to prepare large volumes of food for special activities, such as weddings, family reunions and church anniversaries.

We provide workshops, such as Heirs Property and Serving Safe Food. Administrative assistance is also provided to assist residents upon request, including faxes, copying of documents, writing letters, and the use of the conference room for meetings and classes. Also available is the Resource Room where low to moderate income residents do job searches, get information on writing effective resumes, obtain business startup forms, and information to assist students looking for college scholarships and applications.
