To engage low income persons 60 and older who reside in New Jersey in volunteer service to meet critical community needs; and to provide a high quality volunteer experience that will enrich the lives of the volunteers.
This program provides senior citizens the opportunity to work one-on-one with children having special or exceptional needs at various sites throughout the State, with particular emphasis on working with developmentally disabled children. Income-eligible volunteers receive a tax-free stipend of $2.65/hour plus travel reimbursement and can volunteer up to 20 hours/week.
