Mission Statement

The Kyle W. Kiihnl Foundation is a 501c(3) non-profit that gives a voice to those that have lost their lives to a drowsy driving accident. We provide information and resources to drivers such that they will be armed with information to make sound, favorable driving decisions when dealing with potentially sleep impaired driving situations.

Description

In 2002 Kyle W. Kiihnl was a 17 year old Junior in high school when he lost his life to a driver that fell asleep at the wheel. The Foundation was formed to not only keep Kyle's memory alive but to educate drivers on the dangers of driving while sleep impaired. Since 2002 we have given 10 college scholarships. In an effort to continue granting the scholarships, we initiated the Eye Opener 5K in 2009. In 2010 we doubled the amount of money we raised through donations and runner's fees. At this time, we have plans to expand our race to other cities and potentially give more scholarships each year.
