Mission Statement

Bay COEJL is a project of the Jewish Community Relations Council and a regional chapter of National COEJL. The mission of the Bay Area Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life is to guide, inspire, and educate Jews and their friends toward repairing the Earth in keeping with Jewish teachings and tradition.

Description

We aim to: mobilize Jewish individuals and institutions to protect and restore the environment through faith-based environmental education and advocacy programs; serve as a clearinghouse for integrating Jewish environmental sources in the educational and general practices of the Jewish community; develop local education and action programs that bring together Jews across denominations, generations and secular/religious differences; help coordinate environmental volunteer activities at Jewish schools and congregations; and collaborate with local interfaith environmental groups, to advance a faith-based environmental movement.
