Mission Statement

Stray from the Heart's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and place homeless dogs with loving new families. We do so without the benefit of paid employees or a shelter to house these needy dogs. We have a wonderful network of volunteers, such as dog walkers, trainers and foster parents to help support our efforts to rehabilitate and socialize each dog before a permanent home is found for them.

Description

Stray from the Heart was founded in September 2000 by Beth Silberg; a trainer and lifelong animal rescuer, and Toni Bodon; an attorney, animal advocate and rescuer, when they decided to formalize their work of rescuing abandoned and abused dogs. We also provide follow-up support to the individuals and families who adopt a dog from us. Stray from the Heart volunteers are always available to provide advice on health and behavioral problems that may arise after an adoption. Even so, we have a "no questions asked" policy in cases where a dog must be returned to us. Our main concern is the health and safety of our strays.
