Mission Statement

The St. Franics House Pet Care Clinic provides free primary veterinary care to pets of homeless, veterans and very low income residents of Alachua County, FL, and encourages responsible pet ownership by our clients.

Description

The homeless, low income and recently unemployed receive love and comfort from their companion animals and try to take good care of them, but with no money to spare this can be very hard. Local veterinarians hate to turn these people away, but can't begin to provide free care to all who need it. The St Francis House Pet Care Clinic is an entirely volunteer organization staffed by community veterianarians and students in the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. We offer health exams, vaccinations, microchips, deworming, treatment for illness and injury, nail clipping and consultations. Staff emphasize the importance of responsible pet ownership and only treat animals that have been spayed or neutered. The Clinic arranges for spay/neuter surgery when needed. Clients must live in Alachua County and meet low income criteria. See our website for more information.
