BOARD TREASURER POSITION DESCRIPTION ESSENTIAL DUTIES The following duties are typical of those performed or delegated by the individual in this position; however, this individual may perform other related duties, and not all duties listed will be performed by each individual in this position. 1. Attend all Executive and General Board of Directors meetings * Prepare a financial statement showing income and disbursements compared with the annual budget * Print Profit/Loss statement and Balance Sheet for each Board meeting * Participate in meetings as a voting member 2. Carefully account for all financial transactions of the office * Deposit all checks/funds in the bank - currently First Northern Bank, Fairfield. * Attach deposit ticket to check copies deposited, file them in binder by month * Send scanned copies of all checks/funds received and provide to designated board members * Prepare and mail payments related to all Symphony payables (bills) * Sign checks and obtain cosigner signature for checks exceeding $750 * Reconcile checking/savings accounts & file in binder * Enter all transactions in Quickbooks (deposits and expenses) * Make copies of Quickbooks file (on zip drive) when the accountant (when assigned) needs to write payroll checks. Deliver 60-75 checks and zip drive to the accountant. 3. Prepare the payroll for the musicians and employees for each concert (there are five) * Have payroll checks prepared and ready for distribution the day before the concert. Pick up the payroll checks that the accountant prints (when assigned), sign them, put them in envelopes and deliver them to the President of the Symphony. * Make required payroll state and federal payments Initials________ * Make all other financial filings required for a non-profit * Prepare and mail W-2’s and 1099’s at the end of each year 4. Assist the Finance Committee * Annual budget preparation and updates * Update Chart of Accounts as required * Participate in audits * Participate in compensation reviews 5. Perform administrative tasks * Pick up and distribute Symphony mail * Purchase postage and office supplies as needed QUALIFICATIONS * Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles * Good written and oral communication skills * Good planning and organization skills * Basic proficiency in Quicken Quickbooks preferred * Basic understanding of government financial reporting requirements * Basic proficiency in Microsoft WORD and EXCEL, Email, cell phone usage TALENT - LEADERSHIP SKILLS * Ability to train and oversee assigned staff PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical abilities described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. * Ability to run errands - pickup/delivery of payroll checks, deposit checks in the bank, pickup Symphony mail, purchase offices supplies PREREQUISITE BACKGROUND * Experience as a SSO Board member or patron preferred * Basic proficiency in Quicken Quickbooks preferred * Willingness to commit to the Solano Community Symphony Association (SCSA) dba Solano Symphony Orchestra Mission Statement and Bylaws

Being the President of the Solano Symphony Orchestra requires good financial management, organizational and communication skills. You will be helping to promote the Symphony with the local community, local merchants and patrons of the arts. Having a basis of symphonic music helps, but is not a requirement. You will be spending a minimum of 5-10 hours per week in in management duties, which include communication, written and verbal skills, contact with local businesses and other arts groups. The Board of Directors meets monthly on the second Wednesday. Traditionally, meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. and are held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in the Digerud Room, but currently meetings are held via Zoom at 4 p.m. due to COVID-19. Description
Under the baton of Maestro Semyon Lohss, an honor graduate of the Leningrad Conservatory with more than 30 years experience in orchestral and choral conducting, the Solano Symphony Orchestra performs five concerts each season in Vacaville, Calif. Additionally, the Symphony Board and Musicians work to engage youth in our community to expand their knowledge in music and showcase their talent through our annual Young Artist Competition and Salute to Youth Concert.
