Mission Statement

We believe...

...in the legacy of Robert F. Kennedy - that society has a responsibility to the poor and disadvantaged,
...in respecting the dignity and individuality of every human being,
...that all children have the right to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment,
...that every person has the right to reach his or her full potential.

We value courage, purpose, community, leadership and hope.

Description

The RFK Youth in Progress (YIP) program is designed to structure after school time in a creative way that empowers each student to reach his/her potential. The YIP program is run by students' ages 14-18 years and overseen by professional staff and community volunteers. The 10-week course is rooted in respecting a culture that fosters growth, dignity and self-esteem. It includes hands-on classroom and community activities that promote leadership, self-confidence and self-understanding. The curriculum is designed to teach the students adult daily living skills that include money management, job skills (applications, resumes) effective communication and conflict resolution.
