Mission Statement
Our mission is to facilitate the distribution of surplus medical resources where they are needed. As such, our programs have both a local and international focus. Goods are distributed in a non-discriminatory manner without regard to race, color, gender, religion, nationality or political beliefs. In pursuing the mission, the Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff seek to: 1. Relieve human sufferin 2. Demonstrate respect for all customers, clients, and patients 3. Collaborate with community organizations collectively to provide services to those in need. 4. Maintain a proactive approach to improving services provided
Description
World Medical Relief operates five programs that provide medication, medical equipment, and medical supplies at little or no cost to low-income people in metro Detroit and throughout the world.
The Affordable Prescriptions Program - provides prescription medication on an on-going basis to low-income people ages 18 & older who do not have prescription drug insurance.
The Durable Medical Equipment Program Through the DME program, low-income clients can obtain canes, walkers, hospital beds, over-the-bed tables, commodes, tub benches, and similar items. Clients need a doctor’s prescription or a social service agency referral to receive durable medical equipment.
Local Shipping Program - World Medical Relief provides a variety of medical supplies for individuals referred to us from social service agencies, physicians and other health care workers.This program also provides hygiene kits, school kits, blankets, and other items to Detroit area homeless shelters and social service agencies conducting programs for the poor. WMR provides area clinics and other non-profit health agencies with medical supplies and equipment.
Supply Service - offers adult briefs, pull-ups and bed pads to the public at discounted prices.
The International Missions and Shipment Program distributes medicine, medical and surgical equipment, and medical supplies to poor people living in developing nations.
