Mission Statement

Girls For A Change (GFC) is a national organization that empowers thousands of teen girls to create and lead social change. GFC provides girls with professional female role models, leadership training and the inspiration to work together in teams to solve persistent societal problems in their communities.

Description

When a girl believes in her own personal power to produce an effect she is able to apply learned skills such as critical thinking and problem solving to not only changing her community but to transforming her own life. Girls For A Change is an innovative program that focuses on social change as a mechanism to increase a teen's chance to thrive instead of just survive.

We are currently looking for volunteer women to be Girl Action Team Coaches for our Fall session, September to December. Coaching with GFC means working with girls for 12 weeks to tell them they are important and powerful and that they can create change. The commitment is about 15-20 hours per month and includes one meeting with girls per week. We have teams that start in the Fall (August to December) and in the Spring (January to May). We offer Coach Training, staff support and a coach manual to help guide you during the year. We provide the support you need to work effectively with girls in communities throughout the Silicon Valley. We will be serving San Mateo, Santa Clara, and South Santa Cruz Counties in Califorina and also have several other locations nationwide.
