Mission Statement

Athletes 4 Cancer is dedicated to harnessing the healing power of the elements with the tenacity and determination of the human spirit to impact lives affected by cancer. Essentially, we help rebuild lives after cancer.

Description

Athletes 4 Cancer hosts outdoor adventure camps as a channel to foster self-confidence and strengthen survivorship as survivors face life after cancer. This is Camp Koru. Camp Koru now has Surfing, Standup Paddling, skiing and snowboarding to help young adult survivors get their life back when cancer takes it away from them.

Athletes 4 Cancer Camp Koru, our young survivorship program, is funded through the efforts at our annual adventure fundraiser, Kiteboarding 4 Cancer, in Hood River, Oregon. This event takes place the 2nd or 3rd week in July and shows off an incredible display of kites, perseverance an passion for the cause.

Our event motto: To take on a unique challenge and endure to the point of exhaustion, testing both mental and physical tenacity, embodying the struggle someone going through cancer faces every day.
