Description

Hey everyone!

We are looking for a few volunteers to come help out at Peter G. Schmidt Elementary School.

Volunteers must have a school paid background check in order to work at the school. It is quite a simple process and it is necessary for the safety of our students.

We have a few volunteer positions open to you.

1) We need someone who can volunteer once or twice a week to help with our first grade groups. Curriculum and training will be provided. Volunteer would be working with two first graders to help them with their reading. This position is for Mondays at 1:30-2:00 and/or Tuesdays at 2:15-2:45. The first graders are all really great kids! That definitely need that extra help.

2) The second opportunity is to help with our Second Grade groups. Again training and materials will be provided for the volunteer. It is again once or twice a week. The time being Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:35-1:05. Again it would be reading with two second graders to try and improve their skills.

3) The third opportunity is helping out with our Fourth Grade groups this is a once a week position. Tuesdays 1:20-1:50. Materials and training will be provided. It to will be mainly reading with two fourth graders.

4) The fourth opportunity is a chance to do some one-on-one tutoring with a first grader on Friday mornings from 8:40-9:00. There is also another opportunity on Friday to do one-one-one tutoring which is at 1:30-1:50. These are quick 20 minute sessions. All trainings and materials will be given. I am not here on ALL Fridays so those volunteers interested in the Friday sessions they must be self-initiators, responsible, and work with the kids in the classroom pods.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail or to give my office a call at 360-709-7241.

My name is Megan and I a Washington Reading Corps member through AmeriCorps. Peter G is a wonderful place to work and the kids are just absolutely amazing. I look forward to working with you in the future in the name of volunteering and education.

Thanks,

Megan
