Description

The Golden Pioneer Museum was founded in 1938 in conjunction with the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners and the Works Progress Administration. The Museum is now owned by the City of Golden and managed by the Golden Pioneer Museum 501 (c) 3 no profit corporation. The museum has become an integral part of Golden's attractions. Permanent and temporary exhibits tell the story of Golden and the surrounding areas. Temporary exhibits such as The Pot of Gold at the end of the Rainbow: The Jolly Rancher Company and Some Like it Hot: The Golden Volunteer Fire Department, keep return visits fresh and interesting. Artifacts from Golden's past have been collected and preserved for over sixty years and tell the story of the area and its citizens. The Museum is open Monday - Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with free admission. Guided tours can be arranged by appointment.
