Mission Statement

The mission of ASCS is to continue to focus on rescuing, fostering, and adopting homeless cats & kittens, as well as to expand in scope to come to the aid of all homeless animals. The Society believes in spaying and neutering animals to limit over- population and thus reduce future suffering and homelessness. ASCS adopts a "no-kill" philosophy, and therefore tries to meet the needs of as many animals as possible.

Description

Officially established in August of 2000, the Animal Sanctuary and Care Society has been dedicated to finding safe and loving homes for many, many homeless cats and kittens. The Directors have been engaged in the activity of rescuing these animals for over 10 years. In the last 4 years, they have successfully placed almost 400 cats & kittens into either permanent or foster homes. Currently, over 100 cats & kittens are being cared for in foster care throughout Marin county. After 10 years of rescue, the Directors have come together to reach new heights in the care for homeless animals. The Society is committed to creating a sanctuary for all homeless animals, where many more can be cared for than are currently being served. ASCS's goal is to purchase land on which to build a sanctuary within the next 1 to 3 years. It is committed to this endeavor while continuing to provide the best care for its cats currently in foster care. The Animal Sanctuary and Care Society receives its funding from individual and corporate donations as well as from adoption fees. The Society's first annual charity auction, "Paddles for Paws", will provide funds to aid in the establishment of the sanctuary.
