Mission Statement

HARC, Inc. helps people with intellectual disability and their families enjoy lives of quality, inclusion and dignity by providing support, education, and advocacy.

HARC, Inc. works to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities, and the minds of those who don't. The vision to create a life where our people can live as neighbors, work as productive members of society, and enjoy leisure time in Connecticut has become a reality. Affecting change in the day-to-day lives of the individuals and families we serve is our joy. Affecting the way society perceives people with developmental disabilities is our continuing challenge.

Description

Since 1951, HARC has grown to serve over 850 clients a day. Although our size has increased, we still remain close to our grassroots structure. We provide services for clients from birth on into the elderly years. More than 500 children and families benefit from our Stepping Stones (Birth to 3) Program. The Life Enrichment Program gets more than 54 senior citizens into the community and involved in other social activities. Our 11 Group Homes and Condominiums provide housing for 70 clients. More than 130 clients work at any of our 28 Supported Employment Sites. Our in-house employment center provides training for 85 clients. More than 370 participants (children and adults) partake in Recreation opportunities like floor hockey or trips around Connecicut. With such a broad range of services and activities, we are always looking for superstar volunteers. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
