Mission Statement

Amedisys Hospice of Metairie is looking for individuals who can volunteer for patients and their family members with life-limiting illnesses. You can volunteer as often or as little as your schedule permits. Free individual or group training is available. For additional information please contact Briane at 504-832-9363. Description

Hospice provides physical, emotional and spiritual support for terminally ill patients and thier families. Volunteers are needed in the following areas: direct care- companionship, support at the time of death, reading or writing letters with patient, craft projects with patients/caregiver, feeding patient, and pet therapy. Indirect care: light gardening, deliver blankets, attend health fairs,and assisting at nursing facility. Bereavement: assist with letters, spiritual prayer calls, attending funerals, participation in memorial services,and companionship for bereaved.
