Since our inception over 50 years ago, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County (BGCMC) has touched the lives of thousands of children, between the ages of 6 and 18 (with most from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds) as we set out to achieve our Mission: to inspire and empower the youth of Monterey County to realize their full potential to become responsible, healthy, productive and successful citizens. Our youth avoid gangs or overcome other risk factors as they gain the academic, social and life skills necessary for successful adulthood through relationships with our caring youth development professionals and volunteers and our award-winning afterschool youth development and delinquency prevention services offered across five core areas of programming: Character and Leadership Development; Education and Career Development; Health and Life Skills; The Arts; and Sports, Fitness and Recreation.
