Bridges of Hope-Africa was founded by ordinary people moved by compassion as they saw the sicknesses, diseases and deaths suffered by the rural village peoples in the eastern region of Nigeria as a result of lack of clean drinking water.
We are drilling water wells for safe, clean drinking water in the rural villages of Eastern Nigeria. These villages trek 5-10 miles each way to fetch drinking water from stream worse than run-off ponds
Many infants and children die each year in these villages from water borne diseases such as Diarrhea, Cholera, Hepatitis A, Polio, etc.
We are supported by ordinary people like you who are also moved by the sufferings of these infants, children and adults who die each year from these preventable water borne diseases.

According to W.H.O reports the infant mortality rate is 98.8% because of lack of sanitation and heath care for pregnant women and children. According to United Nations health research: "In developing countries, 4 out of 5 of all illnesses are caused by water-borne diseases(not HIV/AIDS) with Diarrhea being the leading cause of childhood death". Other water -rated diseases include: Anemia, Cholera, Hepatitis A, Hookworm infection, Malaria, Polio, Ringworm or Tinea, Scabies, Typhpoid, etc. ( Source- 'Global Water Supply and Sanitation Assessment 2000 Report' Section 2.2, W.H.O 2000). You can make a difference for the native people of Iboland(Biafrans).
