Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk seeks to partner with responsible and hard-working low-income families to build decent, attractive houses in communities where people can live and thrive.

Description

Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk was founded in 1987 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit affordable housing organization. We work with over 4,000 volunteers in and beyond New York’s First, Second and Third Congressional Districts and partner with responsible, low-income families of all faiths to build and renovate decent, attractive houses in communities in which people can live and grow. Building or renovating a home nearly every month, Habitat Suffolk recently celebrated the dedication of our 161 st home as we continue our work throughout Suffolk County from Huntington Station to Westhampton, with half of our homes in the Town of Brookhaven. Through the efforts of committed volunteers, staff and board, Habitat Suffolk continues to be an important part of the solution to the affordable housing crisis in Suffolk County, Long Island, which is one of the nation’s most expensive areas to live.
