Mission Statement

The Kenya Education Fund's (KEF) mission is to provide disadvantaged students in Kenya, and their schools, with support and educational resources so that they may improve their communities and break the cycle of poverty in Kenya.

Description

In Kenya, high school is not free. Widespread poverty is the primary reason 65% of Kenyan students are unable to complete 12 years of schooling.

The core of our activities is our High School Scholarship Program, which provides promising but needy students with a 4-year high school scholarship. We have awarded over 1,900 scholarships to scholars from around Kenya. Nearly 850 students have completed high school thanks to a KEF scholarship. In 2014, 82% of KEF scholars qualified for public university compared to the Kenyan national average of 31%. This year (2016) we have over 900 active scholarships.
