Mission Statement

The Supportive Housing Employment Collaborative is a collaborative of five non profit organizations provide housing, employment and support services to low-income and formerly homeless individuals. The purpose of the collaborative is to provide a variety of employment, training and education opportunities to the tenants that are housed by these organizations. By combining the financial in-kind and human resources of the membership agencies, the collaborative aims to truly expand the number and type of employment, education and training opportunities available to the tenants in these buildings. Member agencies acknowledge the difference in expectations for our different programs and value these differences for the range of opportunities they provide. In providing these services, the SHEC chooses to focus on client behaviors that directly effect participation in these programs, not on past behavior, off-the-job activities or disability status. It is the aim of the collaborative to impact policy which ensures on-going economic opportunities for formerly homeless people. The SHEC views supportive housing sites and their related environments as an enormous source of employment and economic development for tenants. As amended August, 1997
