The 4-H Program, a component of Rutgers Cooperative Extension, is the acknowledged leader in youth development in New Jersey. This contemporary program creates extraordinary opportunities for youth to develop life skills by providing a safe, supportive and innovative environment for life-long learning, which facilitates creativity, growth and healthy development in youth and adults and empowering youth to become an active voice in their community.

Description

4-H is unique in that it is an educational program for youth based on research provided through the land-grant university system. Using the grassroots approach, programs are designed based on the needs of youth locally, using subject matter knowledge gathered globally. 4-H faculty and staff in New Jersey have access to knowledge through research at Rutgers, as well as universities throughout the nation, ensuring programs that are contemporary and relevant to today's youth.
