City Heights Community Development Corporation (CHCDC) is a nonprofit organization that has been working in City Heights for the last 30 years.
Affordable Housing: Core programs increase the quality and availability of affordable housing for low-income residents. Housing programs are designed to meet basic housing needs, enhance neighborhood environments and encourage community pride and involvement. Currently, CHCDC provides 350 units of LMI housing in City Heights, the majority of which are for families considered very low income (50% or under area median income).
Economic Development: Economic development programs focus on job creation, preparation, training and placement. CHCDC generates employment opportunities for residents within the City Heights area, resulting in economic benefits that are realized at the community level. Earnings are then reinvested locally to promote further economic development. Additional economic development platforms are fostered by providing technology, life skills training and other broad based resources for residents to become more economically self-sufficient, primarily through our Resident Self-Sufficiency (RSS) Program.
Healthy neighborhoods: CHCDC actively advocates for policy reform, community involvement and is committed to mobilizing residents around issues concerning the built environment. CHCDC engages residents to identify initiatives that will unite and empower the community and increase the potential for activism, collaboration and results.
