Building housing, hope and futures for the well-being of working families. Quality affordable housing is essential for individuals, families and communities to thrive. We envision and develop communities where residents find dignity, hope, confidence, skills, and courage to pursue their dreams. Bienestar believes that all work is honorable and champions those who provide essential labor to the community. We work in the midst of the poorest neighborhoods to unleash the potential of people to improve the quality of life for themselves, their children, their families, and the community. Formerly Housing Development Corporation, Bienestar has provided quality, affordable housing and resident services to farmworkers and other low income families since 1981.
Bienestar is a 35-year-old nonprofit community development corporation providing affordable housing and resident services to agricultural workers and other low-income families in Washington County. Bienestar owns 12 apartment properties and serves more than 2,000 individuals, about 93% of whom are Latino. In addition, Bienestar has built and sold five lease-to-own homes to farmworker families.
Through our on-site Community Rooms, Bienestar offers free resident services programs, including educational youth and adult programs. These include MpowR Club, financial literacy programs, ESL classes, GED classes, Education Navigation, Summer Lunch and Fun, Explorador Camp, Individualized Development Accounts and more.
