Mission Statement

The Alpine Public Library connects our diverse and geographically remote communities with information resources to promote reading and lifelong learning.

Description

The Alpine Public Library is a full-service rural library serving Brewster County and the Big Bend region. The library offers free use of books, audio books, videos, periodicals, and computers to all residents. Offering children’s and adult’s programs is a core commitment at our library. We offer bilingual educational and recreational programs such as story times, science programs, guest lectures, computer tutoring and classes, book clubs, and genealogy classes.

We are a very small non-profit organization and rely heavily on donations and fundraisers. Our library is less than 3,300 square feet and over 70 years old. Despite our quaint surroundings, we strive to offer high quality and up-to-date materials and services to our patrons. We are currently constructing a new, larger library in Alpine, estimated to open in 2011.
